Ilkay Can-Standard is an architect/ technologist and the founder of GenX Design & Technology. Her firm is focusing on helping Architects, Engineers and Construction Companies to transition to BIM using the most effective and tested strategies. GenX represents a generation of architects/engineers who have field experience and are leaders in technology. She has highly skilled teams in New Jersey, New York, Istanbul, Ankara and Shanghai. Her goal is to help transform how we build and construct our cities.
Ilkay previously worked as an Associate Principle at KPF NY Office and as a Bim Manager at KBArchitects . During her time at KPF she has worked on award-winning projects both locally and internationally – including the Ziraat Bank Headquarters in Istanbul, and the mixed-use project SOHO Tianshan Plaza in Shanghai, mixed-use project for Tishman Speyer ‘American Center’ in Shanghai and NYCHA Red Hook Houses in Brooklyn, NY.
As Co-Chair of the CTBUH New York "Future Leaders" Committee, she has fostered an open dialogue between architects, engineers, developers and academia to develop responsible buildings and cities. Since she co-founded the group, it has grown from 30 people to over 1000 today. Additionally, she currently serves as the "Future Leaders" Global Committee Chair, working to develop relationships between FLCs worldwide.
