Peter Weingarten, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, leads Gensler’s Firmwide Commercial Office Building Developers Practice Area and directs the architectural practice for the Northwest Region. Peter has experience working on a variety of building typologies, including large scale, mixed-use developments and tall towers, hotels, educational campus buildings, and residential projects. Notable sustainable projects include guidelines for Battery Park City in New York, Dubai Waterfront in the United Arab Emirates, and a proposed 300 meter mixed-use hotel tower in Mumbai, India that’s targeting India’s LEED Gold Certification. A Gensler Principal and native New Yorker, Peter served on the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) NY Chapter Board of Directors and the USGBC Northeast Regional Council. Currently he serves on the Building Design+Construction Editorial Review Board, the Junior Achievement of Northern California Board of Directors, and Syracuse University’s School of Architecture Peer Advisory Board. In 2008, Peter was honored by Building Design + Construction Magazine as one of their “40 Under 40” for his contributions to the architecture and engineering field.
