Adrian Betanzos leads the Architectural Materials Studio in the Real Estate & Development department at Apple Inc. He is in charge of the worldwide supply and quality assurance of all interior and exterior cladding materials in the stores, with a main focus on glass, its structural applications, and flagship developments.
Betanzos possesses over fifteen years of experience as a construction manager and civil engineer. His professional experience includes the design, fabrication, assembly, and construction of complicated facade structures and high-rise buildings.
Previously, Betanzos worked for Vitro Group advising on façade glass for projects all over Mexico. During his time at Permasteelisa North America, he worked as a project manager for the design, fabrication, and construction of the Hearst Building and the Goldman Sachs World Headquarters in New York City.As a facade consultant at Front Inc., he served as a link between different industry players, such as factories, specialty contractors, engineers, and designers. He worked on bespoke cladding system designs and their entire constructability from design and fabrication to construction.
Betanzos was an Adjunct Professor for the New York University (NYU), the City University of New York (CUNY), and the University of California at Berkeley. He has also lectured at Columbia University, Syracuse University, California College of the Arts - San Francisco, Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie - Sao Paulo, Brazil, and at other technical facade gatherings around the world.
In addition to practice, Betanzos founded and lead a project for Engineers Without Borders, NYC professional Chapter, to provide sustainable water and sanitation solutions in the community of Yamabal in El Salvador.
Adrian has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City and a Masters of Engineering in Construction Management from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
